Prior to joining the Yellowshark Group, Charles served as Head of Engineering for InAuth, where he was the #11 employee, building the Engineering Team and software engineering practices from scratch. He established and maintained the early product roadmap, helped established the Client Services organization, and managed feature development and prioritization. As the Head of Engineering, Charles was instrumental in helping to grow and align the organization, acting as an integrating function with Sales, Sales Engineering, Marketing, Client Services, and Finance.
Before InAuth, Charles worked in multiple capacities and on multiple programs with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Leidos. During this time, Charles started as a contributing engineer to a mission scheduling and resource planning application in support of the Air Force Special Operations Command. Charles additionally worked at SAIC as a project manager and then in business development, supporting the development and delivery of RFP responses for large enterprise applications, working on projects that ranged in value from ~$60M – $1.2B. When Charles left SAIC (as it was being split into SAIC and Leidos), he was working as the Enterprise Programmatic Analysis Lead on the Global Positioning System (GPS) Systems Engineering & Integration Contract. In this capacity Charles worked in the Office of the Technical Director, reporting directly into Chief Engineer. On the GPS program, Charles was responsible for identifying optimizations to the program, helping to integrate the different areas of the organization, and was a key leader on the satellite system’s Verification & Validation efforts.
Prior to his work at SAIC and Leidos, Charles helped start a healthcare company focused on serving the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS). Charles architected and developed a flexible and extensible platform backend that supported multiple applications aimed at providing insight and intelligence for UK hospitals with the ultimate goal being to increase access to services and minimize wait times.
Charles is passionate about software engineering and building teams that are collaborative, agile, and focused on creating products that have an impact on the world. He excels at creative problem solving, understanding how details build up to the larger picture, and fixing broken organizations and teams.
Charles earned his MS in Software Engineering from West Virginia University with an emphasis in Program Management and his BS in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from California State University, Chico.
Charles has lived all around the country and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with his awesome Black Labrador, Henry. Charles enjoys collecting guitars he’s not good enough to play properly, homebrewing, and on occasion, running a half marathon in foreign countries.
